About

Attorney and founding member Kelsey Black is an accomplished commercial litigator and trial lawyer in Fort Lauderdale. Her vision as founder and her everyday role at the firm are one and the same – to be an agent of change, uncover opportunities and develop strategies that achieve greater results for her clients. With a creative writing background, Kelsey has always been a creative thinker and studies problems from all angles to find what others have missed. She firmly believes that she enjoys winning more than most people.

A disdain for pointless adherence to status quo led Kelsey to open her own law firm and leave the big firm life. BLPA is the kind of firm that continually evolves and stays currents with modern technology and increasing efficiency while serving clients.

Throughout her career, Kelsey has focused on representing companies in commercial litigation, insurance coverage, and injury disputes in Fort Lauderdale. She has obtained favorable results for clients on a wide range of issues in litigation, including defense verdicts at trial and complete wins in dispositive motion practice. She frequently appears at the trial level courts in Broward, Miami-Dade and West Palm Beach County, along with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

First impressions do of course deceive, but they also stick around, which may be why Kelsey has the reputation as being cool as a cucumber despite the scenario. Beware the bright-eyed country girl, she does not miss a thing.

Despite her dorky love of the law, she’d still prefer to talk to you about her family or scuba diving or travel in a social setting. In a past life that seems like eons ago, Kelsey was a scuba instructor in the Caribbean. How the people of Florida were lucky enough to pull her back to their shores and set her free in the courtroom is one of life’s great unknowns, but we don’t look gift horses in the mouth.
