Jac E. Knust is an experienced lawyer and certified mediator who has been practicing law in all areas for over 50 years focusing on family law. His family law cases have included child support, custody and visitation, property division, and divorce. He advocates for alternatives to traditional divorce, including collaborative law and mediation services.
Jac also uses litigation where indicated. During his long tenure as a practicing attorney, Jac has handled cases beyond family law. These areas include criminal law, DUI/DWI, traffic violations, motor vehicle accidents (Plaintiff), estate planning, wills, probate and estate administration, and business organizations.
Jac graduated from Clemson University in 1969 and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland, where he graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. He was admitted to practice law in MD in 1972.
He is a former Special Magistrate for The Circuit Court of Howard County, responsible for taking testimony in uncontested cases.
He became an Eagle Scout in 1963 and received an Honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1974 when he held the rank of Captain.
