Mr. Bonanno became a Certified Florida Circuit and County Mediator in March of 2002, and was certified as a Federal Mediator for the Middle District of Florida in June of 2002. Since then, has successfully mediated hundreds of civil cases in State and Federal Court. He is currently available to mediate or arbitrate any matter in the state of Florida through the use of video conferencing.
Mr. Bonanno was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1970 and worked as Assistant County Solicitor from 1970-1972. In 1972, went to work as an Assistant State Attorney under E.J. Salcines for three years. In 1975, became the managing partner in the Law Firm of Bonanno, Nutter, Crooks & Alvarez, P.A., handling State and Federal criminal defense cases, personal injury suits, business torts, contract and employment issues, landlord/tenant disputes, as well as construction litigation.
In 1978, took the position as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Tampa until being appointed by Governor Bob Graham to serve as a County Court Judge in Hillsborough County in 1982. Was appointed by Governor Bob Martinez to serve as Circuit Court Judge in 1989. Retired in 2002 after twenty years on the bench.
In 1992, taught paralegal studies as Adjunct Professor at Hillsborough Community College for 9 years.
Worked as In-House Counsel for Suncoast Roofers Supply, Inc. from 2002 through 2008, gaining experience in a business environment with an emphasis on commercial litigation, restrictive covenants, lien laws, administrative law work in environmental, health and safety areas, drafting and negotiation of purchasing, sales, and service contracts, human relations areas and the management of intellectual properties.
