Val Hornstein practices in the areas of civil litigation and commercial transactions, including real estate and intellectual property. He has developed a successful specialty in securities arbitration and litigation where he has received multiple million dollar plus awards for his clients.
Val is a graduate of Colgate University and George Washington University Law School and is licensed to practice in California, New York and the District of Columbia, as well as numerous federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. Prior to his legal career, Val was an information systems analyst with a global information technology company. A former board member of the American Judicature Society, he is a long-time member of the Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association Business Law Section, and its Business Litigation Committee, was an adjunct professor of e-Business in the Graduate International Business Studies Program of Dominican University of California. He serves as judge pro tem and settlement conference panelist in the San Francisco and Marin County Superior Courts and is an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association (AAA), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and others. He writes and speaks widely on legal issues.
