Guardianship Mediation
Guardianship mediation is used when there’s a disagreement about who should care for someone who can’t care for themselves—often an elderly parent or a disabled child. Families, potential guardians, and even the person needing care can join the conversation. The mediator doesn’t decide who becomes guardian but helps everyone talk through their concerns and reach a plan together. It’s less stressful and less expensive than going to court. This type of mediation focuses on the well-being of the vulnerable person and helps families avoid long legal battles or emotional rifts.
