Can the mediator give me legal advice?
General Mediation
Answer
A mediator should not act as legal counsel for either side. Even when the mediator is a lawyer, the mediator represents neither participant. The mediator may discuss issues, ask questions, explain process, and sometimes evaluate litigation risks, but that is different from giving one party individualized legal advice.
