Jim Richardson is a Founding Partner of Richardson Maples, P.C. Jim is a native of Huntsville, Alabama and a fifth-generation lawyer. His father was a president of the Alabama State Bar, his grandfather and brother served as judges in Madison County.
Jim’s practice has always involved civil litigation, representing plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and businesses, both domestic and foreign. Over the years, he has been engaged in a wide variety of cases on both sides of the aisle.
Jim has broad experience in insurance-related matters, such as liability claims of all types, coverage disputes, bad faith, and fraud. During the course of his career, Jim has handled hundreds of cases for and against insurance companies. Having represented insurance carriers, policyholders and claimants of all types, there is very little in the insurance world that he has not seen.
Jim has also been involved in a broad variety of personal injury cases within and without the realm of insurance claims, including transportation, industrial and premises accidents of a broad variety, both for the defense and for the plaintiff.
Jim has also handled business, commercial, real property, financial and estate and trust matters of many types. He has handled cases for plaintiffs and defendants concerning ownership and governance of businesses both large and small; business, financial and sales transactions; government procurement; as well as fraud, fiduciary breach and undue influence in the planning and management of estates and trusts.
