After serving in both the private and public sectors for over 25 years, Michelle saw a gap in equal access to justice. In 2022, Michelle and her husband Lance, founded The Advocacy Center, Inc., the first regional non-attorney nonprofit community mediation center to address conflict and barriers to equal access to social justice.

The Advocacy Center, Inc. ("TAC") is an all-woman led and managed nonprofit community mediation center offering alternative approaches to conflict and social injustice through community-based programs. TAC provides low-cost or cost-free non-attorney agency services.

These programs break down socio-economic barriers to equal access to justice and allow disputes to be settled out of court in an online simple, convenient, low-cost manner. TAC currently has locations in Charlotte County, Florida and Hamilton County, Tennessee.

TAC's Equal Access to Justice Mediation Program bridges the gap between individuals, families, and businesses facing legal challenges and the resources they need to resolve them. Their program ensures that all individuals, regardless of financial status, have access to high-quality conflict resolution services that promote fairness, efficiency, and justice. We place a special focus on cases involving:

- Domestic violence (DV)
- Intimate partner violence (IPV), involving violence against women and children
