Litigation is inherently adversarial and public, and pursuing it against a business partner, supplier, or customer usually ends the relationship along with the dispute. Mediation, by contrast, is private and collaborative, and it allows the parties to address not only the immediate disagreement but the working relationship and future dealings between them. Because the parties craft the resolution themselves, they can build in arrangements — revised terms, a payment plan, a restructured partnership, or a clear path forward — that let them continue doing business together where that serves both sides. For companies whose success depends on long-term relationships, preserving the relationship is often worth as much as the dollars in dispute.
